The mill
Milled by the man who felled it.
Harvey is an experienced tree surgeon with a deep love of the woodland he grew up in. When a good hardwood tree has to come down, most of it gets logged for firewood or chipped. That always seemed a waste of a hundred years of growth, so he bought a mill.
He fells, extracts and mills the timber himself, on our own ground in the Exe Valley. Every board is tracked from the standing tree to the stack. Nothing is bought in and sold on. When you buy a board, he can tell you the tree it came from and how it grew.

The woodland comes first. Always has.
Nothing felled needlessly
Most of the timber comes from trees that were already coming down, fallen, storm-damaged, or removed by necessity. Milled here instead of chipped or burned.
Taken with care
Trees are taken out without harming the wood around them. A tree surgeon’s eye for what stays, what goes and how to work the ground without wrecking it.
Replanted for later
What’s cleared gets replanted. The woodland is meant to outlast all of us, so it’s managed for the next hundred years, not this season’s stock.
Traditional methods
Cut the old way, for work built to last.
Milled to order and air dried in stick, not forced through a kiln. It takes longer, but it’s how timber for oak-frame houses and traditional joinery has always been prepared, and it’s how the wood stays true.
